GGS is also venturing into the new technology of torrefaction, a mild  pyrolysis process in a high temperature chamber of 200ºC – 300 degrees°C with the absence of oxygen or air, atmospheric pressure and heating time of 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Torrefied wood pellet is more economical as it contains higher energy density, resistant to water due to its hydrophobic nature,  and has a lower sulfur and ash content compared to industrial wood pellets.

It also has a longer storage life without any fuel degradation due to its stability. Torrefaction also removes the smoke producing compound, thus it has low volatile matter content and is generally safer.
